I stopped in to grab a quick bite to eat on my way to a meeting and I completely satisfied. The food was good, beer selection was good, and the waitstaff was very pleasant. I would highly recommend this place to anyone.

This bar has everything you need to have a good time, it's only problem is that it's in the middle of nowhere. The upstairs is classy and comfortable, great for dining or sitting at their beautiful wood bar while playing quizzo or singing karaoke. Downstairs is like walking into a completely different bar. Smokey, windowless, full of video, sports on tv, poker and pool tournaments and barely held together bar stools. I like both bars and love the fact that I can do both in one evening, shortest bar crawl ever. I haven't spent too much time in the 'nice' bar but it's the kind of place you can take that date who likes clean cut and quiet. Downstairs is the kind of place you take your tomboy girlfriend. My favorite things about downstairs is a) you can smoke b)there is a .25 cent peanut dispenser by the bathroom, c) Duffer's shots are huge and come in a small drinking glass instead of a shot glass. Best of all Friday and Saturdays from 9pm-1.30am you can call the Duffer's bus to come pick you up (if you live within 15 min of bar) and drop you off from your home. So no worries about drunk driving! :) Food is good enough. A mix of frozen and fresh, go here to drink not fine dine. *smoking downstairs ONLY, upstairs is smoke free

Good place to stop and watch a game or get a bite to eat. Fairly good prices, and good bartenders, always good for a story. Food is above average bar type food with a few upscale items that are always good, like the beef tips, etc.

This review is for the Duffers on 352, not the one on Baltimore pike. This Duffers has a split personality; upstairs has dining and a bar, downstairs is all bar. Downstairs has video games, pool tables and a DJ (some nights). Upstairs is more sports bar for the over 30 set, lots of TV's and a more casual vibe. Both have their strong points. The staff is very proficient and friendly, on both levels. The food is standard bar fair, nothing more. It is a great place to meet up with friends and have a few cold ones. On weekends they have a shuttle bus which will pick up up and take you home, if you live within 15 minutes drive time. On Thursday nights they have music trivia upstairs with a free pitcher to the winner of each round and $50.00 gift card to the overall winner.

Pinball Alert ! The Duffer's Tavern has: Star Wars Episode I (see: ipdb.org/machine.cgi?id=… ) I was staying in Newtown Square and after dinner at Roux 3 (see: yelp.com/biz/C4NWYMQbFoD… ) my co-workers knocked-out and I wanted to go out and do something. I Yelped to try to find more pinball in the local area and came across Amy Y.'s (see: yelp.com/user_details?us… ) review. Duffer's is two levels. I would guess the main level is the restaurant and dining room. I went straight to the game room / bar which has a separate entrance downstairs. I came for one thing, pinball, of course. This machine wasn't my favorite to begin with as it's a Pinball 2000 machine, the left flipper was too weak, and each game (5 balls) is $1.00 ! ! ! Sheesh... Tuesday nights, Duffer's has POKER night. Looked cool. I don't play nor intend to but I think this is cool. I wondered if they were playing for money or just playing for fun? A great bar, lot's of TV's, a couple of billiard tables, and other arcade / video games make Duffer's a decent place to hang out. Big MINUS - smoking allowed. I only stayed about 10-15 minutes but I left smelling like a big ash tray. Ick... I headed into Philly (30+ minutes away) to try to hang out at Dirty Frank's (see: yelp.com/biz/PTMVqXgxO0E… ) to play Jack*Bot (see: ipdb.org/machine.cgi?id=… ) pinball. Unfortunately, Dirty Frank's table was turned off and was surrounded by about a dozen drunk dart players that I didn't feel like bothering. I ended up at North Bowl (see: yelp.com/biz/R0JUjyjGEzU… ) to play the new pinball Spiderman (see: ipdb.org/machine.cgi?id=… ) while listening to DJ Travis spin old school 45's til 2AM. Pix laters...

Great fun although smoky bar. I'm a non smoker from the west coast but I still love it! Total dive bar, right up my alley. bartenders are a-holes and I mean that in a good way. Have good drink specials on the weekends. Stoked that my hotel in walking distance cause things are usually pretty fuzzy by the time I leave.

What would the Philly suburbanite do without a little Duffer's in their lives? This place is always, ALWAYS, a good time. Every night something is featured, some sort of entertainment lurks within their basement walls, and crowds of people come pouring in to help celebrate the happy time vibe that rides high in the air here. Sundays are in the biz nights. We all know what that means. . .yep, if your unlucky enough to be paying your bills by the mercy of those dining out, then you can come in and drink for half off. Monday's are free pool nights, Thursdays open mike, Fridays and Saturdays carrying the wee hours away with some sort of local talent. Upstairs is the main cigar/dinning room/bar, where folks of all ages come to pass a few hours with friends and alike. Downstairs is an adult arcade, huge HUGE bar, and where all the entertainment lies. So there's a floor for whatever your seeking. Quiet people upstairs, those out for some noisy fun it's downstairs for you. Oh and the elevator ride makes easy commuting for those whom like to get a little tipsy and forget how to walk stairs. If your lucky/unlucky enough, however you like to view it, then you may even run into Bam and his gang as this is his local stomping base. Can't say I enjoy running into them, as Bam tends to think he's God himself, but star struck girls seem to love it none the less. Ever seen the movie "Haggard"? If yes is your answer then you've already been in the basement of this happy watering hole. Part of the movie is filmed here. Gotta say I love this place. So many happy memories here scattered throughout the past years. To us locals this is Duffer's 2, but soon to be the only as I believe the first is about to be leveled, so if your heading out, don't get confused and direct yourself to the original. This one is far more chill.

Duffers is great..it is located on 352 in a nice chill area. Very rarely do you see a cop go by there. Great place for underagers, we have been going there since we were 17! Its a shame they canned the smoking, it was one of the last remaining places around town you could smoke in.

Always a good overall dinning experience, food is tasty an service is good as well. Nice outdoor patio, can be crazy busy on the weekends so be prepared to wait 20-30 mins at times !!!

Apparently Duffers has a large list of bottled beer. Well, you would never, ever know it unless someone else told you as a) they don't give you a bottle menu and b) they don't even advertise that you should ask. My date asked the server told us they "Don't have one. There are, like 83 bottles and they change all the time." Baffling. The only food I sampled were the nachos and they were so salty that they were mostly inedible and left me with heartburn.

Love DUFFERS!!! Have never had a bad meal. All the food is delicious. I especially love their Salmon Bacon Sandwich. It is a meal and always cooked to perfection. Their crab cakes are very good and so is their Prime Rib.. Very inexpensive and good service.

We ordered pretzel bites for appetizer, they came out burnt and hard as cement. We had the chicken saltimbocca, it was dry, overcooked and tough. Crab cake sandwich was decent. Service was good, would return for sports and beers but not for dinner.

I'm from out of town, and my wife and I were visiting a local B&B, and Duffer's looked close, casual, and good for a low-stress meal, and it turned out to be just that. From the looks of the parking lot - there were lots of cars - it seemed like a busy place. There must have been a good crowd in the downstairs bar, because we were seated right away in the upstairs dining room. Our food was good and plentiful, and the prices were definitely reasonable. Our server was fantastic - friendly and attentive - and we felt right at home. We both agreed that we'd definitely stop at Duffer's again, the next time we're in the area.

This was a usual weekend destination when I lived in West Chester. As noted in other reviews, there are two different parts to the bar: upstairs is more of a restaurant, downstairs has the games. I would say we headed downstairs 95% of the time. Also, I will add this is potentially the only bar I've ever been w/ an elevator. Can get your fun that way if necessary. I'm not really into games, but the lower level hosts: pool tables, potentially some arcade games, a poker night, and that game where you try not to slide little disks off the end of a long sanded table. Also, like many other places in PA, Duffer's offers beer to go (cooler by upstairs entrance). Keep that in mind out-of-towners!! Duffer's is home to a fairly mixed crowd, which I will attribute at least in part to the lack of cool places in suburban PA. I went there w/ friends when I lived in PA, and I went there w/ my uncle -- who's in his 60s -- when I visited in June, so really, a good time can be had by all. Oh, ate here once or twice. It's bar food. Not noteworthy but not the end of the world. Never saw Bam here. (Heard Rex's closed. RIP. That place was actually cool. Only time I ever heard a band cover Fugazi.)

Eh... I was torn between a two or three star rating for Duffer's Tavern, but when you add a claw game to pick up Lobsters, it redeemed itself... enough. Atmosphere - Definitely sports bar like. Signs going in say 'Proper Attire Required', but as long as you weren't in an offensive t-shirt or something, you're good. Busy Friday night when I went in, hostesses sat me right away in the bar area. Golf is a predominant theme here, if you're a golfer, you'll connect with the decor right away. Waitstaff - Waitress Stacey was great, recommended a good microbrew and said the food was pretty good. Nice and accommodating, water when I asked was brought and even though the back made a mistake on my fries order, she remember as she was putting down the plate and brought it back. Food - I was really disappointed by the food here. Totally would have got four stars if it was a little good. Carribean Jerk wings were alright, served with regular ranch (yuck) and some carribean spices as well. Was looking forward to my sandwich w/fries but the sandwich was drenched in sauce (the sloppy kind that covers the chicken and the bun) and the fries were undercooked. Nothing really special, which is a shame, because the beer I had with it was great. Intangibles - The aformentioned lobster claw game to select a lobster is a nice touch. Main dining area again nothing really special. Place converts to a dance club after 10pm on weekends, not sure if it's 'the spot' for the locals to go who are looking for something fun to do. Mixed crowd of old and young, though most did seem to be coming after work or from golfing. Overall - It's a shame, Duffer's has all the trappings of a great local sports bar, but the food was not worth it, even thought my total bill before tip was under $20. I'll try it again, but if the food is still meh, there's other places I can go in the meantime.

The food and service is substandard. The bar tenders are nasty and the drinks are watered down.

Perfect for what it is, sh--ty for everything else. I'm talking about the downstairs, which is in a basement with no windows and sea green walls. I think they were going for Eagles green and missed by a wide margin. Dollar a game pool, deer hunter video game (not popular), electronic boxing bag (very popular with drunk men and their dates), darts, tabletop shuffleboard. Cheap drinks - 2.50 drafts. Shots are doubles. The bartenders are ok. The crowd looks like upper darby transplants. The music is either terrible or unbearable. Recently they seem to have discovered a cd of hard rock / country bands doing covers of rap songs. On Fridays and Saturdays they have a bus to take you home, which I'll have to try one day. This is a bar on a semi-major road, you can't walk to it. Which makes me wonder why cops don't just sit outside the entrance at closing time and make a fortune. The parking lot is always packed. Once I get to duffers, and I do on a regular, I often don't leave until closing time. Always good for a good time, for people watching, and for getting drunk.

My wife and I recently visited Duffers last Friday night. We have been looking for a place around our house to stop by after a long work week and relax and unwind. We definitely found it at Duffers! We arrived at around 9 pm on Friday and after having a glass of wine upstairs, we decided to check out the scene downstairs. We were worried we would be too "old" to venture downstairs as it seemed to be the younger crowd, but to our surprise we were greeted by the friendly bartender with a smile and she promptly took out drink order. while we were towards the "older side" of the crowd, we really enjoyed ourselves ! We took seats at the bar and decided to order some food. I tried the Fat Anthony, which was absolutely delicious. The bread tasted fresh and it wasn't lacking in meats and cheese! My wife had the Harvest salad and she thought it was delicious. Our bartender Vicky took great care of us and even helped a picky beer drinker like myself pick out a nice Victory beer they had on tap while my wife stuck with the house Chardonnay. We had a great time and we felt ten years younger hanging out downstairs!! We will definitely be back! thanks Vicky and Danny!

This place is cool if you like shooting pool and don't mind the cigarette smoke. They're open until 2:00 which is convenient for me because it's right over the line AKA not far from me. They also have good food and an upstairs area where you can't smoke if you don't want to be around it.

Food is terrible. I can't even say the chicken fingers were good because they do not change their fry oil. The chicken fingers smelled like fish! This place is a hole in the wall, I used to enjoy it. The staff is SOOOO poorly managed. The staff drinks a LOT while working too. (mainly the manager and bouncers) I was actually harmed by a manger when they were drunk once. TERRIBLE! No one keeps track of drink sales in the computer. They write your name on a paper on the wall. Sometimes we would have a huge tab and sometimes it would be nothing. The drunk bartenders mess up writing your drinks on the slips all the time. They do this so they do not have to report cash sales. Common practice by most bars but they need a better system. Upstairs drink prices sometimes vary from what they will charge you downstairs. There is no drink list WHAT-SO-EVER! So you cannot even complain because no where does it say how much a beer costs! (unless is is a special, no one ever tells you about anyways) They have a good selection of beers NOW but no one knows because they don't promote them or have a drink list! Don't even get me started on the women's bathroom downstairs....i recommend staying upstairs especially if there is a band and you are female. (smells and door locks don't EVER work, if you can get the toilet to even flush) Bands are horrible and play way too loud for a room with NO acoustic set up! This place could be awesome if they cleaned up their act and hired a proper manager. There are some great bartenders and wait staff but they don't have any systems in place to help them. Also a better cook or menu with FRESH ingredients would help. There aren't many bars or restaurants in this area so they have the potential to do great.
